Dr Powell is available as a consultant for projects such as laser machine purchases, laser safety (cutting, fumes etc) and laser processing problems. Dr Powell has also provided expert written statements when conflict has arisen between laser machine suppliers and their customers. Long term R & D work can also be carried out in collaboration with the University of Lulea, Sweden,where Dr Powell is a visiting professor.
